About me

During a visit to our school’s boathouse recently, I noticed a heap of old wooden pallets dumped on the grass. I love that no two boards are alike, and the recycling opportunities are practically endless. A few days later, I was still going on about the pallets and asked the keeper of the boathouse why some boards were brown and others gray. He responded simply, “Weathering. It’s just what weather does.” I was in a metaphorical mood (the holidays were near), and found myself relating quite a bit to those battered boards. I figure this is as good an inspiration as any to share pictures and stories about how time and weather can influence wood, rocks, and women like me.
